Paint Recipe #1 Mix 1 cup liquid starch with 1 cup powdered tempera or 1/2 cup liquid tempra Recipe #2 Mix 1/2 cup soap flakes with 1/2 cup liquid tempra. Add 1/2 cup liquid starch. Recipe #3 Mix 1 cup flour and 3 cups water and stir over medium heat until boiling. It will turn transparent. Add liquid or powder tempra paint. Store in a covered container in the fridge if kept for more than a few days. Bag Painting Pour 1/4 cup of finger paint into a ziploc bag. Close and seal the bag, making sure the air is out. Tape the top to prevent leaking. Great for practicing letters, shapes, clean fingerpainting... |

| Dough
Recipes Cooked Playdough (personal favorite) 2 cups flour 1/2 - 1 cup salt 2 TB cream of tartar 2 cups water 2 TB oil 1 pkg Kool aid or food coloring Mix the dry ingredients together in a bowl. In a Large saucepan, mix water, oil, and coloring. Add dry mix to the pan and cook on medium heat. The dough is done when it looks like mashed potatoes. Allow to cool and knead. Will last 2 weeks in covered container. Self Harding Clay 1 cup salt 1 cup flour 1 TB powdered alum water food coloring Mix salt, flour, and alum with enough water to make a putty. Mold into figures, animals or pots. Let air dry until hard and paint if desired. Sawdust Clay 2 parts sawdust 1 part wheat paste water Mix paste and sawdust with enough water to make a flexible mixture. Mold into desired shapes and let air dry. Wheat Paste 1 cup flour 3 cups water Mix together and stir over medium heat until boiling. Take off heat and allow to cool. |
